TECHNICAL MANAGER – CROPS

Tzaneen Area – Limpopo:  Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to manage and implement technical aspects and functions within the company

This position involves the management and guidance of the technical staff within the company’s technical department, as well as the strategical implementation of systems, innovation, and approaches to enhance the footprint and services rendered to the company’s growers and customers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

BSc (with extensive experience) or an MSc Agriculture

Minimum of 5 years of technical experience in the fruit industry would be advantageous

Food safety and accreditations management

Grower, packhouse and customer relationship management

Experience in proactively managing shipping risk of fruit in transit

 

Knowledge

In depth knowledge of the fresh fruit industry, packhouse processes and post-harvest fruit quality enhancement.

Horticultural experience in fruit crops, specifically including crop nutrition, irrigation and pruning principles.

A good understanding of software systems used on farms for orchard management, as well as GIS mapping techniques and database management.

Fully proficient in Microsoft Excel (Strong in data management, pivot tables)

 

Skills

Good communication skills (verbal and writing), managing customer and grower relationships

Good negotiation skills

Ability to manage, stimulate and guide the technical team

Good time management
