Cape Town – WC: An opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager in the transport/agriculture industry to provide accurate electronic technical situation reports and to handle operating procedures and cost management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Formal engineering training preferably to Technician level or relevant technical experience
UJ/RAU Diploma in Road Transport preferable.
Advanced Technical and or suitable trade qualifications
Computer literacy is a pre-requisite
Some previous financial exposure preferred
Product specific training in relevant fields such as hydraulic, truck manufacturer, engines, drive trains
Some previous business exposure highly advantageous
An understanding of basic operating procedures and cost management
Exposure to the selling of second-hand equipment useful
A solid, practical and verifiable technical background in both transport and agricultural machinery maintenance and operation
Skills and Knowledge
Broad understanding of all technical aspects of a wide range of transport and specialized transport machinery
Experience in modern fleet maintenance and management practices
Good communication skills at all levels in the organization
Will be required to operate independently outside the office environment and travel within SA, sometimes at short notice
Will provide backup assistance to the Technical Manager in any situation that may arise.
Key Performance Areas
To achieve ongoing improvements in preventative maintenance practices for all vehicles and farm equipment in the division
Must be able to provide accurate electronic technical situation reports that provide clear feedback, following problem analysis conducted at contracts
To assist in controlling maintenance costs and minimizing waste
Will be required to operate in the field and use initiative to provide technical intervention or assistance on site
To continuously improve on skills levels and workshop standards so as to maximize fleet availability
Will be required to attend formal technical meetings with suppliers to address concerns raised at contracts
May need to represent the company’s interests in disputes with suppliers
Must be able to communicate clearly internally and externally
