PRODUCTION/ TECHNICAL FARM MANAGER – FM1745

East London Area – Eastern Cape: Our client is looking for a Production / Technical Farm Manager to join the team.

Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field is preferred.
Practical knowledge gained through experience is equally valuable.
Minimum 5-10 years of hands-on experience in vegetable production.
Proficiency in managing all aspects of crop production, including planting, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting

SKILLS REQUIRED

Plant biology/Crop Experience:
In-depth understanding of growth requirements, and best practices.
Equipment/Machinery:
Optimisation with irrigation equipment, calibrations, flow rates, dose rates and problem solving.
Planning and scheduling:
Ability to create schedules, manage crop tasks, and optimize resource allocation.
Pest and disease management:
Familiarity with integrated pest management (IPM) techniques.
Team leadership/Team Player:
Experience in supervising farm workers, assigning tasks, and ensuring efficient operations.
Quality control:
Commitment to maintaining high-quality produce.
Budgeting and cost management:
Ability to manage expenses related to seed, fertilizers, labour, and equipment.
Adaptability:
Willingness to stay updated on industry trends and adopt new technologies.
Analytics/Research/Reporting:
Ability to understand numbers, trends and present findings in reports.
