GENERAL MANAGER – FM1254

Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage, Addo & Kirkwood Area – Eastern Cape: Our client is looking for a General Manager to join the team.

Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualification in Agricultural Management
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience at a management level of an agri business
  • Previous exposure and basic knowledge of HR processes and systems
  • Ability to communicate successfully with all levels of people in the workplace
  • Experience in dealing with low educated and/or unskilled workforce
  • Experience in dealing with outsourced services will be an advantage
  • Experience in dealing with Union activities will be an advantage
  • Experience in dealing with legal and compliance matters will be an advantage

DUTIES

  • Financial
    • Oversee budgeting process
    • Cost Management
    • Forecasting – manage reasonable changes thereto
    • Oversee financial & project analysis
    • Review availability of working capital, CAPEX, and growth projects of the company
    • Monthly/weekly communication to board members regarding seasonal progress
    • Cashflow management
    • Risk Management systems and oversight
  • Operational
    • Responsible for quality of fruit produced and volumes achieved
    • Management of production team
    • Implementing of optimal farming practices
    • Optimizing ROI on a per orchard level
    • Managing capital projects
    • Manage all EIA & WULA processes
    • Ensure compliance of all HSE regulations
    • Ensure compliance of all export standards and customer certifications
    • Identify new projects and drive continuous improvement
  • Administrative
    • Coordination of all the functions on the farm to ensure successful support for optimal production
    • Ad hoc reporting to shareholders about operations as required
    • Manage preparation of board reports and other stakeholder communication
    • Participate in board meetings, AGM, trustee, and beneficiary meetings for the company
    • Facilitate company employee trust communication & administration
    • Trust Development & education
    • Manage relationships with local communities & neighbours
    • Manage relationships with corporate companies
    • Oversee and ensure compliance of various HR functions:
      • Employment equity
      • Workers committee
      • HR & HSE policies
      • Wage negotiations
      • Performance management
      • Training
      • Workplace skills plan
