Prins Edward Island – Canada: Our client is looking for a General Farm Worker to join the team.

This is a seasonal contract position.

Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• 2+ years’ experience on a farm performing farming duties required
• 1 year experience performing general farm equipment maintenance required
• 1 year experience operating tractors and forklifts required
• 3A truck license and experience operating an excavator preferable.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

• Ability to operate farm equipment, including tractors and forklifts.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment. Welding ability.
• Adaptability, collaboration, active learning, attention to detail, strong work ethic, social orientation, cleanliness.
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.

KEY KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• Basic knowledge of operating farm equipment
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural equipment
• Basic knowledge of agriculture and processes in producing a vegetable crop.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Assist other farm workers to plant and grow crops, move and set up irrigation systems, harvest crops, and perform other farm related duties.
• Load, unload, pack and transport potatoes during shipping season.
• Do general clean up of growing, producing, harvesting, packing and shipping areas.
• Assist with general farm maintenance and maintenance of equipment and tools.
• May assist in clearing woodland with an excavator.
