Heidelberg Area – Western Cape: Our client is looking for a Farm Manager to joint the team.

Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary education in the Agricultural Field
  • Minimum of 5 – 10 years’ proven experience in Citrus Industry

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Good knowledge of the establishment, care, and production of citrus products
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work confidently in a group
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Computer literate
  • Driver’s License

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS

  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of production tasks as communicated by and agreed with the Manager
  • Measurement and collection of relevant data to provide feedback on measuring efficiencies of production against protocols and planning
  • Measurement and evaluation of efficiencies of sprays, pruning and irrigation, contract workers and provide feedback to the Manager
  • Management of stock, labour and production costs, record keeping and reports
  • Motivate, mentor, coach and manage a team of workers, with special reference to supervisors and scouts
  • Regular meetings with scouts to ensure Pest & Disease identification and management system run efficiently
  • Communicate and motivate interventions with regards to pest, irrigation, pruning and other production related matters due to specific visual interpretation, discrepancies or deviances from the standard
  • Support the Regional and Agricultural Manager in achieving the production units’ overall objectives
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the farming team
  • Ensure that quality control and compliance procedures are followed according to accreditation and management systems
  • Financial and Administrative tasks, such as confirmation of purchase orders, payment authorizations and budget management
  • Perform any reasonable duties as requested by the Agricultural Manager or his/ her designate.
