FARM EQUIPMENT MECHANIC – FM1765

Prins Edward Island – Canada: Our client is looking for a Farm Equipment Mechanic to join the team.

Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school certificate required
  • Red Seal Diesel Mechanic Certification and/or Apprenticeship preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience performing service repairs required
  • 1 year agricultural equipment operator experience required
  • Class 5 license required, Class 3 an asset (willing to train)
  • Forklift license preferred (willing to train).

KEY KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural equipment
  • Basic knowledge of operating farm equipment.

 KEY SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment. Welding ability.
  • Electrical repair and maintenance ability.
  • Ability to operate farm equipment.
  • Attention to detail, strong work ethic, cleanliness.
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Check agricultural, construction, heavy construction, highway and agricultural processing equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
  • Service attachments and working tools such as harvesting and tillage equipment, blades, ploughs, winches and side booms
  • Perform repair work on heavy trucks
  • May attach components and adjust new farm equipment.
  • Operate farm equipment and machinery to till soil, plant, cultivate and harvest crops, and load and unload crops or containers of materials during busy seasons
  • Follow safety procedures.
