Cradock Area – Eastern Cape: Our client is looking for a Dairy Manager to join the team.

Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Min of 2 years practical experience in this field with
  • Farming background an advantage.
  • AI certificate and practical experience a must.
  • Must be able to communicate in English or Afrikaans with
  • Ability to speak IsiXhosa an advantage.
  • Min of Code 8 driver’s license.
  • Be prepared to work the hours typical of a dairy business.
  • Good stockmanship and a passion for working with animals.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Will manage one of the three parlours which vary from 600 to 1200 mature cows through a 66 Delaval Rotary, Rockwood Rotary or 36 Delaval Swing over (2 of).
  • Managing the pasture platform that is associated to parlour which includes allocation, fencing, water points and animals which include milking cows, dry stock and followers.
  • Manage milking process and parlour management to standard.
  • Manage seasonal calving and breeding with calf rearing up to 6 months.
  • Herd, Pasture and Staff record keeping together with Basic office admin.
  • Staff management including Motivation, Discipline, Training and Performance. Parlour infrastructure and Machinery management.
  • Major services and repairs will be out sourced to relevant professional service providers with candidate managing the process.
