Hopetown Area – Northern Cape: Our client has an opportunity available for an Assistant Manager – Orchard, within their growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the 130ha organic pecan orchard and assist the Farm Manager.

Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Qualification in agronomy, horticulture, or similar
• Minimum 2 years of experience in orchard management
• Good understanding of irrigation systems
• Good understanding of farm machinery
• Bilingual. English and Afrikaans. (Interview will be held in English)

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Organic pecan orchard management
  • Irrigation programme
  • Cover crop and fertiliser programme
  • Pruning
  • Tree canopy and sunlight management
  • Management of pests
  • Harvesting
  • Machinery
• Managing a team of 10 orchard staff
• Effective workforce management, coordination, and development
• Liaise with administrative staff to maintain records and documentation
• Deputising for Farm Manager when necessary
