Curico Area – Chile: Our client is looking for an Agronomist to join the team.
Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in agricultural management, preferably in fruits such as apple, pear and kiwi.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural practices and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication in English and negotiation skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Contract Management:
- Negotiate contracts with farmers to ensure timely supply of fruit meeting quality standards.
- Implement measures to prevent the use of closed bins.
- Fruit Estimate and Quality Monitoring:
- Provide periodic estimates of harvest volume and quality.
- Advise growers on pre-harvest practices and supervise operations.
- Regulatory Compliance and Logistics:
- Ensure compliance with export regulations for targeted markets.
- Coordinate logistics from orchards to packing plants.
- Emergency and Crisis Management:
- Be available to handle emergency situations ensuring business continuity.
- Communication and Documentation:
- Document all commitments with growers and follow up with email confirmations.
- Strategy and Business Terms:
- Develop strategies to optimize grower relationships and business terms.
- Implement the company’s global sourcing model to expedite payments and promote competitiveness.
- Sourcing Model Promotion:
- Advocate for the company’s sourcing model to enhance negotiations with growers.
- Supply Chain Management:
- Ensure timely acquisition and delivery of fruit, maintaining quality standards.
- Volume Acquisition and Negotiation:
- Negotiate fruit volumes with growers, avoiding closed bins.
- Grower Advisory and Supervision:
- Provide technical advice and supervision from pruning to harvesting.
- Regulatory Compliance and Updates:
- Ensure adherence to export regulations and update growers on compliance requirements.
- Logistics Coordination:
- Coordinate fruit transportation logistics with operations teams.
- Quality Control:
- Manage quality control during harvest and coordinate with the quality team.
- Data Submission and Reporting:
- Submit accurate reports on production and negotiation statuses.
- Payments and Proactive Engagement:
- Ensure timely payments to growers and maintain proactive engagement.
- Harvesting and Packing Procedures:
- Design procedures to optimize harvest and packing efficiency.
- Grower Relations and Identification:
- Build relationships with existing and potential growers.
- Quality Control Activities:
- Conduct quality control for all sourced fruit.
